Share of Voice in AI

Compare three to eight brands in a category across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity using brandless category prompts.

Enter a category and 3–8 brands (yours first). We ask 20 brandless category queries across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity and compute share of voice — no Answer-Engine Visibility score.

What Share of Voice in AI is

Share of Voice in AI measures how often your brand is named relative to competitors when answer engines respond to category questions that do not include any brand names. You enter an industry or category, three to eight brands with yours first, and a domain. We send twenty brandless prompts through model APIs for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity (not the consumer chat apps), then compute overall and per-engine share of voice plus a win/loss matrix.

Brandless prompts matter. If the prompt already contains your brand, the test collapses into a vanity mention check. Category prompts keep the comparison closer to how a buyer asks “who are the best options for X?” without feeding the answer the shortlist.

How it works

After you submit, we generate or accept category prompts, fan them out to all four engines, and judge which listed brands appear in each answer. The report shows a donut for overall share, per-engine bars, and a win/loss matrix so you can see who beats whom head to head. There is no Answer-Engine Visibility score on this page — share of voice is the metric. On-screen charts are free; email unlocks the PDF when you need a leave-behind.

Shares move between runs because models rotate examples and hedges. A five-point swing is not automatically a crisis. Re-run before quarterly planning, and use AI Brand Monitoring when you want the same prompt set tracked on a schedule instead of ad hoc clicks.

How to read share of voice

Overall share is your brand’s mention weight across the twenty-prompt set relative to the brands you listed. Per-engine bars expose whether one model loves a competitor while another ignores them. The win/loss matrix is pairwise: for prompts where both brands could appear, who showed up more often. None of these figures are crawl-coverage scores, and none replace a single-query leaderboard — use the AI Search Rank Checker when you care about one exact prompt’s order.

Frequently asked questions

Does Share of Voice in AI give a visibility score?

No. It computes overall and per-engine share of voice plus a win/loss matrix. There is no Answer-Engine Visibility score on this report.

Why must prompts omit brand names?

Brandless category prompts keep the test closer to open buyer questions. Including a brand in the prompt biases the answer and weakens the share-of-voice comparison.

How many brands can I compare?

Between three and eight, with your brand listed first. That range keeps the matrix readable while still covering a realistic competitive set.

Do I need an account?

No. On-screen results are free and public. Enter your email only to unlock the PDF download.
